Thistle and Sunset Santorini is home to spectacular sunsets, awe-inspring caldera cliffs, and indigenous plant life that while beautiful can be very prickley. This thistle was growing by the side of the road betwen Fira and Pyrgos. Lights along the ridge in the background are from the town of Oia. The small mesa on the right is called Skaros, located directly in front of the town of Imerogigli, and is prominently visible from Fira and Firostefani.  Copyright 2008, J. S.
