House with Oleander This image was taken in the town of Fira (pronounced fee-RAH) a short walk from the Nomikos Conference Centre. It shows one of the beautiful oleander (pikrodaphne or "bitter daphne") bushes found common in the Cyclades in front of the simple, elegant entrance to a house. (For some time, the bush in this photo was mis-identified as a bougainvillea or bouganvilla. Click here, here, or here for examples of bougainvilleas from the AREADNE site.) Copyright 2005, J. S.
